Miraluka

On the way back to Coruscant, the crew makes some more discoveries about Dalt. They find his hidden base, tucked along the vector that Dalt had attempted to plot the Jedi ship onto. They speculate on how many more forgotten Jedi stashes Dalt might've dug up, since he seemed to be looking for them. And they learn from Erin and Master Roon that Dalt did indeed have a 'keeper': A Miraluka named Senal, who most likely worked as one of the Emperor's Hands. Dalt went missing for six years, vanishing right after the Battle of Endor, and then appeared on Coruscant in a Miraluka entourage shortly after the whole to-do with Thrawn's first reappearance. Chances are, they think, Senal ran with Dalt to Miraluka after the Emperor's fall.

Ree gets cheese for Kyp and Dalt, and after some nattering around, realizes that her crest might just have a holocron in it too. And indeed, it does (according to Jenn, they all did, for the purpose of teaching and preserving family lore), but it needs a password, and she doesn't know how to get into it. Turns out, it's the words from her family crest: "honor, compassion, humility." The holocron is a little grouchy, presumably from being closed up for centuries, but is willing enough to talk. She (the holocron) tells them that "everybody knows" where the Skywalker crest was hidden: on Tatooine, where the family was eventually going to show up. When they tell Luke, he snags Han and heads out to dig it up from the foundations of Jabba's palace.

Armed with this bit of knowledge, the crew decides to revisit Dalt's crest and the Obi Wan holocron. Turns out, it's burned over top of an older holocron. Obi Wan wards the way in sarcastic style. Dalt's family motto is "Persistence, Diligence, Justice" which is also the password. Dalt's holocron, which gives its name as Tal Sent, having been worn by Dalt at the time, is aware of quite a bit of the fellow's doings and is willing to help out the crew in hopes of rescuing his family.

So, it's onward to Miraluka. They start there with the housing records. The Miraluka are somewhat obsessed by the whole eyelessness thing, considering it a curse brought on them by the Founders (the Rakata?). They keep meticulous records, especially of matches between Miraluka and off-worlders. Thus, it's easy enough to track down Senal and...Dalt?

Apparently, Dalt left behind a friendly, sane clone of himself who seemingly remembers nothing of the more sordid parts of Dalt's past. He's happily married to Senal and works in the local library. He's quite congenial, but can't help them. He doesn't even seem to realize he's Force-sensitive. So they go visit his wife, who's at home. She's resigned to telling them the story, but from her perspective, there's little enough to tell. Dalt was Dalt, and when they ran away and came to Miraluka, he settled down and left all the bad stuff behind him. She's able to give them the locations of several of Dalt's hidden bases. While they talk, Kedrihm'Val realizes there's another Force-sensitive upstairs. Senal won't say anything about it, but they surmise that she and Dalt might just have a kid.

Holy crap!

Learning from her that Dalt tends to spend time at the park and at the local school, where's he's heavily involved in parent-teacher stuff, they decide to go scope these places out. Maybe there are some clues. The kid, Lexi, follows them...and they learn that her mom has apparently been teaching her some things when Z tries to stun-grenade her. She's excited about meeting Jedi, and wants to follow them, so Zann finally mind-whammies her to go back to her house.

At the school, they find a hidden cloning facility. Putting things together, they can guess about the story here. They believe that along with locking down the Rakata souls, Vader might well have put a suggestion on Dalt to run, hide, and stay off the radar to keep him out of trouble. Senal, following identical orders and wanting to stay safe during the Empire's fall, brought him to Miraluka, where they simply settled down and left all that behind them. Eight years ago, a powerful flux of Dark Side energy (Kyp Durron and Exar Kun) stirred up whatever was lurking in Dalt's brain, and he decided to leave...but he didn't want to leave his family alone, so he created an innocuous clone of himself. In fact, he may well have taken all his memories of his family, removed them from himself, and placed them in the clone to protect them even from himself, because Real Dalt doesn't seem to be at all aware of them, while this clone doesn't seem to be aware of anything else.

They decide there's no reason to upset Dalt's family with this stuff, but they need to go talk to Lexi's parents about her little adventure. Lexi announces that she wants to be a Jedi. Senal doesn't like that at all, while Dalt thinks that it's perfectly wonderful...if a bit dangerous. After a great deal of familial debate, the verdict is that Lexi will go back to Corcuscant with them for training.

Ree makes sure that Dalt gets moved to a different cell, to make sure that he and Lexi never cross paths.

Kedrihm'Val learns that he's spirit-ridden--by one of the children whose parents had apparently killed them out of mercy. When he tries to communicate with the spirit, he blows it monumentally (four 1s in a row, come ON!), which leads to the ghost-child proving he's a good guy by possessing Kedrihm'Val and dressing like a ninja to fight crime. It's all over the news the next day.

A second attempt, with Kyp's help, leads to the spirit accidentally being torn out. After the ghost possesses his father's corpse, the group follows him to an undercity block where a Dark Side cult is operating. Fight with a woman in black robes and a spooky staff ensues.

Oola catches up to the boy as he attempts to steal the family spaceship on his way to Chandrila. Kedrihm'Val comms the ship, Oola cops an attitude, and they talk the boy into returning so they can go with him.

On Chandrila, they find an ancient Jedi ship buried in a cave system. It was designed to preserve Jedi families' history against the day of a prophecy about the Jedi being eradicated (Darth Vader). The boy, Jenn, has one of the family seals that unlock the ship, and is willing to show them around. They learn a number of things and decide to take the ship back to Corcuscant...but when they take off, the course is taken over and droids attack them. Turns out Dalt was on board too. In fact, he still is. SARR blows out the ship's engines, Oola crits twice to combat Dalt via computer system, and they manage to recapture him. He's surly about it, but oddly relaxed.

Investigating the ship, they find a space for a seal bearing the imprint of a road running through a field of stars. Jenn tells them that seal was made for the family that 'was to come.' Apparently the Skywalkers were anticipated, but no one knows where the seal might be. Could Vader have found and hidden it? Or might it be lost among the sea of seemingly useless Jedi artifacts that the Emperor discovered?

Ree's family, she discovers, is one of these old lineages. Since her grandfather taught her about the Jedi and told her many stories about how 'sometimes strength is gained through accepting help,' she decides to visit her family and look through his old things. Her parents finally admit that her grandfather was an Antarean Ranger, and are amusingly defensive about not having told her. "He made us promise not to tell anyone!" Ree's siblings all think it's unspeakably cool.

Ree's lightsaber is yay-big too!

Back on Coruscant, Ree discovers a holocron in the hidden compartment of her lightsaber when she realizes its balance is off. It's from Darth Vader.

After debriefing with the Jedi Council, the crew is given some time off. Ree goes out and gets a business proposition she can't refuse. Actually, she does refuse it, and it's not till later when she tells other people about it that she realizes the guy was making veiled threats. Apparently, Coruscant's mob wants a piece of the Jedi movie action.

The crew attends the premiere of "Sudden but Inevitable Betrayal," the new movie about them. There's a preview clip of the next movie, "Haunted Ship," where Ree fights Vader. They blame Kyp. He doesn't care.

At the party, SARR catches up to Ree and points out that her lightsaber is "yay big." She panics about the holocron and rushes out of the building, then calms down and calls Kyp. He reveals that he gave Luke an edited copy with a 'farewell note' from Vader. The real one, he says, rants a lot and doesn't stay on-topic very well.

Kedrihm'Val talks to Cilghal, the Jedi healer on the Council, about sentient Force reefs, as it appears that Mon Calamari has one too. The phenomena are very similar, and the languages bear certain similarities as well. The two become curious as to whether the Calamari and Vodne (the Abindosani fish-people) might be related.

A visit with Lydia reveals that she's doing well. She's getting some training in healing techniques.

Then they get a message from the Senate, ordering them to ship-jack a Thule transport in order to steal some kind of liquid the Thule need to operate their battle-monsters. The crew arranges for some innocuous-looking transport. The Senate sends Kaedan, the ship-jacker, along with for "professional consultation."

Ree gets interviewed about taking an apprentice. She doesn't feel ready. Zann lectures her on "when to put a lightsaber through someone" and how to put your hood up and down. These two things, he says, are key to teaching a student. What you have to teach them is when to and when not to put a lightsaber through someone, and the hood thing is all about the mystique.

The hijacking goes well. Oola, Zann, and Kaedan head to the Thule ship's bridge. When they run into opposition, Zann takes two lightsabers out, lets them go and sets them spinning, then takes out two more. It so demoralizes their enemies that they just give up.

Kedrihm'Val, Ree, Z, and Onna head down to the hold to capture the stuff. They're confronted by an assassin droid, two monsters, a telepath and a dark Force-user with a lightsaber. Kedrihm'Val catches the dart from the assassin droid. Ree duels the Force-user. Onna lights the monsters on fire, and Z fires a missile into the hold.

The stuff turns out to be explosive. Who knew? The get Oola to seal the hold down to stop the atmosphere breach.

The Force-user surrenders, knowing they won't kill him, then mind-whammies Z to hold a weapon on Ree. He takes off at Force-enhanced speed, but Kaedan hacks the door controls from the bridge to lock the guy in...and manages to actually cut the dude in half with the blast doors.

All's well that ends well. People head up to the bridge with their captives and head for home. Except that, on the way up, for a second, Kedrihm'Val thinks his reflection looks different.

Back on Coruscant, everybody spends a restful night...but Kedrihm'Val wakes to feel not particularly rested at all. Getting Oola to help him look at security tapes, he discovers that he sleep-walked down to one of the ships from the haunted Star Destroyer and just stood there, looking at it, for four hours. Turns out, it's the ship that held the family that had killed themselves.
