Kedrihm'Val learns that he's spirit-ridden--by one of the children whose parents had apparently killed them out of mercy. When he tries to communicate with the spirit, he blows it monumentally (four 1s in a row, come ON!), which leads to the ghost-child proving he's a good guy by possessing Kedrihm'Val and dressing like a ninja to fight crime. It's all over the news the next day.

A second attempt, with Kyp's help, leads to the spirit accidentally being torn out. After the ghost possesses his father's corpse, the group follows him to an undercity block where a Dark Side cult is operating. Fight with a woman in black robes and a spooky staff ensues.

Oola catches up to the boy as he attempts to steal the family spaceship on his way to Chandrila. Kedrihm'Val comms the ship, Oola cops an attitude, and they talk the boy into returning so they can go with him.

On Chandrila, they find an ancient Jedi ship buried in a cave system. It was designed to preserve Jedi families' history against the day of a prophecy about the Jedi being eradicated (Darth Vader). The boy, Jenn, has one of the family seals that unlock the ship, and is willing to show them around. They learn a number of things and decide to take the ship back to Corcuscant...but when they take off, the course is taken over and droids attack them. Turns out Dalt was on board too. In fact, he still is. SARR blows out the ship's engines, Oola crits twice to combat Dalt via computer system, and they manage to recapture him. He's surly about it, but oddly relaxed.

Investigating the ship, they find a space for a seal bearing the imprint of a road running through a field of stars. Jenn tells them that seal was made for the family that 'was to come.' Apparently the Skywalkers were anticipated, but no one knows where the seal might be. Could Vader have found and hidden it? Or might it be lost among the sea of seemingly useless Jedi artifacts that the Emperor discovered?

Ree's family, she discovers, is one of these old lineages. Since her grandfather taught her about the Jedi and told her many stories about how 'sometimes strength is gained through accepting help,' she decides to visit her family and look through his old things. Her parents finally admit that her grandfather was an Antarean Ranger, and are amusingly defensive about not having told her. "He made us promise not to tell anyone!" Ree's siblings all think it's unspeakably cool.
